Raimund stumbles on holmenkollen as deschwanden soars to victory

Olympic gold medallist Philipp Raimund suffered a hard fall just eight days after his greatest triumph, failing to advance beyond the first round at the Holmenkollen event in Oslo. He finished 36th, not enough to make the top 30 final.

It was a disappointing day for Raimund and fellow top-ranked skiers. Swiss star Gregor Deschwanden pulled off a stunning upset, taking the win with jumps of 132.5 and 130.5 meters (263.1 points). At 35, he became the oldest ever World Cup premier winner.

Slovenia's Domen Prevc also crashed out, caught off guard by a strong gust of wind. The surprise exit was a blow to Raimund, who had triumphed in Lahti just a week prior.
