The third-division match between 1860 Munich and Erzgebirge Aue was suspended on Tuesday evening due to increasingly poor visibility caused by dense fog rolling over Giesing's heights.

Referee Tom Bauer made the call shortly after Sigurd Haugen scored the second goal for 1860 Munich in the 50th minute, following consultation with officials. The fog quickly thickened, reducing play to near darkness.

The interruption was further complicated by 1860 Munich fans in the away section setting off pyrotechnics, making visibility even worse. Commentator Oskar Heirler on MagentaSport described the situation as counterproductive. “The Sechziger curve is trying to bring a little light to the fog, but sorry, that’s not intelligent, it’s counterproductive.”

Play was suspended for approximately fifteen minutes while the fog partially cleared. Upon resumption, Maximilian Wolfram put the home side ahead in the 7th minute, but Marcel Bär equalized for Aue just minutes later in the 12th. The match remained 1-1 at the time of the suspension.

This isn't the first time weather conditions have impacted a match in the 3. Liga this season. The incident raises questions about stadium safety protocols and the responsibility of fan behavior during disruptions.

The game will be restarted at a later date, pending further weather forecasts and safety assessments.
