Memmingen women claim seventh bundesliga title in dominant victory
Memmingen's women's ice hockey team secured their seventh German championship title with a decisive 4-2 victory over Eisbären Berlin in the third and final game of the playoff series. The team, led by national team captain Daria Gleißner, completed a sweep of the best-of-five series after winning the first two matches convincingly.

Memmingen’s dynasty continues
The final game, played in front of 2,679 spectators at the Hühnerberg ice arena, saw goals from Nara Elia (9th minute), and a brace from Theresa Knutson (36th and 54th minutes), alongside a goal from Jule Schiefer (40th minute). This victory extends Memmingen's dominance in women's ice hockey, bringing them within one title of equaling the record of ESG Planegg, who withdrew from the league two years ago.
The team boasts a roster filled with national team players, a testament to their consistent success. Their performance throughout the playoffs has been nothing short of impressive. They dismantled their opponents in Berlin, winning the first two games 3-0 and 6-1. The speed and precision of their offense, coupled with a rock-solid defense, proved too much for Eisbären Berlin to handle.
Currently, only four German clubs and HK Budapest compete in the top women's league, highlighting the concentrated strength of the competition. Memmingen’s consistent performance over the past decade has solidified their position as the team to beat. The pursuit of that final title, to match Planegg's record, will undoubtedly fuel their ambitions in the coming seasons.
The victory is a culmination of years of dedication and strategic development. It’s a statement about the rising standard of women’s ice hockey in Germany. And it leaves many wondering how long Memmingen can maintain this level of dominance.
