Hazard predicts vini jr. could retire at 30 amid pressure

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr., the electrifying winger, is facing mounting pressure beyond the pitch. His dazzling performances are consistently overshadowed by a barrage of racist abuse and fan hostility, a situation that former Real Madrid teammate Eden Hazard believes could shorten the star’s career.

Speaking to Belgian broadcaster RTBF, Hazard voiced a stark prediction: he wouldn't be surprised if Vinicius Jr. retires at 30. “Now we talk more about what he does or what he has to endure than what he brings to the game. People forget what an exceptional player he is.”

The Belgian former player, who spent four years alongside Vinicius Jr. at Real Madrid, highlighted the immense burden the Brazilian forward carries. “It can’t be easy to go out onto the pitch and only think about football. He has so much on his mind before a game that I sometimes think, ‘Poor guy.’” Hazard emphasized that the constant scrutiny and the often-ineffective promises of sanctions take a toll.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Since October 2021, 27 separate cases of racist attacks against Vinicius Jr. have been registered by LaLiga, the Spanish footballleague. The latest escalation occurred just last month when fans reportedly chanted “Vinicius, die!” during a match against Osasuna. LaLiga is currently investigating the incident.

Hazard acknowledged Vinicius Jr.’s mental and physical strength, praising his ability to perform at the highest level despite the adversity. “I have quickly realized that he is mentally and physically strong. To live at the best club and do what he does. Hats off to him.”

Real Madrid faces Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tonight. The spotlight will be on Vinicius Jr. once again. The question isn’t just about football anymore; it’s about the human cost of hatred.

The constant barrage of negativity is a heavy weight to bear, and it's a weight that may ultimately decide the length of his extraordinary career.
