German boxer nina meinke defends world title with unanimous win
German boxer Nina Meinke has successfully defended her IBF featherweight world title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over challenger Dyana Vargas in Hamburg.

Meinke proves her resilience
In her second title defense since returning from a lengthy injury layoff, Meinke showed impressive form, controlling the pace of the 12-round fight against a game but outclassed Vargas.
The 33-year-old Berliner's relentless pressure and precise punching wore down her opponent, who was bleeding from a cut above her eye by the end of the third round.
Vargas, however, demonstrated remarkable resilience and spirit, landing some good shots in the later rounds and refusing to back down. But Meinke's superior ring generalship and power ultimately told, as she cruised to a comfortable win on the scorecards.
The victory, Meinke's third in a row, not only retained her IBF crown but also earned her the vacant IBO title. It was a welcome boost for the German fighter, who had been sidelined by a back injury since defending her belt in May last year.
In the undercard, Hamburg's Peter Kadiru notched an eight-round points win over Mauricio Barragan, while Viktor Jurk scored a second-round stoppage of Emilio Zarate.
