Tt champions league final to remain in saarbrücken until 2028
The Königsklasse table tennis final will stay in Saarbrücken for at least another five years. The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) and the German cup winner 1. FC Saarbrücken announced an extension of their contract until 2028, ensuring the prestigious tournament remains in the German city.

Saarbrücken secures hosting rights through 2028
The announcement confirms that the final four of the TT championsLeague, featuring Europe's top clubs, will continue to be held at the Saarlandhalle. Since 2024, the competition has drawn fierce rivalries and top-tier talent to Saarbrücken. The agreement solidifies a successful partnership between the city and the club.
“The return to Saarbrücken is a guarantee of success. The city and the club are reliable partners, and we look forward to expanding this cooperation in the coming years,” said ETTU President Pedro Moura. The extension provides stability for the tournament and allows for continued growth of the competition’s profile.
This year's tournament takes place on May 16th and 17th. 1. FC Saarbrücken, the current champions, will once again have the advantage of home support. They face stiff competition from Polish side Bank Spółdzielczy Orlicz Suchedniów, French team Alliance Nimes Montpellier, and German Bundesliga club Borussia Düsseldorf. A rematch of last year's final is a distinct possibility.
Last year saw Saarbrücken defeat Borussia Düsseldorf for the third consecutive time. However, the Saarländers will be without star player Fan Zhendong, who has recently moved to their rivals on the Rhine. The transfer represents a significant loss for Saarbrücken, but also a boost for Düsseldorf's ambitions.
The extension underscores Saarbrücken’s commitment to hosting top-level sporting events and reinforces its position as a key destination for table tennis enthusiasts. The city's proven track record makes it a safe bet for the future of the Königsklasse.
