Texas Edge Rusher Colin Simmons Apologizes for Urinating Celebration on Field
Colin Simmons, the Texas Longhorns' star edge rusher, has apologized for his crude celebration after sacking Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon in their 20-17 road win on Saturday. Simmons pretended to urinate on the field, earning an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that turned a 16-yard loss into a 15-yard gain and a first down for the Volunteers.

The disturbing display
drew criticism from ESPN commentators Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler, who called the act "idiotic" and "vulgar." Simmons, a Second Team All-American, had a huge game with eight tackles and five sacks, but his celebration overshadowed his performance."I also want to say I apologize for the celebration," Simmons told reporters. "I was definitely in that mode, feeling myself. But, you know, it happens. Charge it to the game."
Head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the issue, removing Simmons from the game briefly before putting him back in. "We took him out, we addressed it, and put him back in," Sarkisian said. "That can't continue as we move forward."
Simmons, who had 43 tackles, 12 sacks, and three forced fumbles in the 2025 season, will need to curb his enthusiasm to avoid further penalties and maintain his team's focus as they move forward in the season.
