Spanish handball league sees dramatic finale

The Spanish handball league has witnessed an electrifying finish to the season, with Movistar Inter's Francisco Paniagua returning to Peñíscola, his hometown club. Paniagua played a key role in last season's Cinderella story, leading Movistar Inter to Copa de España glory in Murcia. However, his return was not enough to secure Inter's spot in the playoffs, as they suffered a defeat to Servigroup Peñíscola.

Diego Quintela's hat-trick and Elias' goal propelled Peñíscola to victory, while Inter managed three responses through Harrison, Raya, and Cecilio. Despite their efforts, Inter couldn't quite catch up, ending the match with a narrow loss.

In another closely contested encounter, Family Cash Alzira and Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad fought for supremacy. Pablo García opened the scoring for Alzira, only for Javi Aranda to level the scores for Córdoba. Cristian Povea's double gave Alzira the lead at halftime, but Arnaldo Báez and Murilo turned the tables in the second half. Povea struck again to put Alzira ahead once more, before Carlos Gómez's goal secured a 4-4 draw for Córdoba.

The results have left Barcelona and ElPozo Murcia clinging to their top positions in the standings, following their victories over Valdepeñas and Jaén, respectively. In Valdepeñas, Nico Marrón and Jorge Carrasco scored for Vinateros, while Pito, Sergio González, and Mamadou Touré found the net for Barcelona. ElPozo Murcia's Ricardinho snatched the winning goal against Jaén just before the final whistle, securing a 2-1 triumph.
