NFL Preseason Week 2: Raiders Come from Behind, 49ers Dominate Chargers in Thursday Night Action
Aidan O'Connell guided the Las Vegas Raiders to a 17-point comeback in a 22-20 win over the Houston Texans, while the San Francisco 49ers ran away from the Los Angeles Chargers in a 41-17 in-state thumping to kick off NFL preseason Week 2.
NFL Preseason Week 2: Raiders Come from Behind, 49ers Dominate Chargers in Thurs
In the spotlight was No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, who started for the Raiders after coming on in relief of Kirk Cousins last week. However, the going was much tougher this time against a more formidable opponent. Mendoza completed just 8 of 15 passes for 86 yards, with his biggest lowlight being an interception returned 80 yards for a touchdown by Texans linebacker Wade Woodaz.
Meanwhile, 49ers rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling commanded the most buzz, hauling in four catches across two drives and connecting three times with starting quarterback Brock Purdy on San Francisco's opening possession. Stribling, the No. 33 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has been a standout throughout training camp and appears to be playing his way into the starting lineup.
