Nerea marti: championing the next generation of women in motorsport

Nerea Marti has been a familiar face with the Andretti Formula E team for some time, first representing them in preseason testing in 2024 and 2025. Now, the Spanish driver has been appointed as the team's ambassador, a role she sees as a pivotal moment in inspiring future generations.

Marti's role: bridging the gap

Marti emphasizes the significant progress made in women's motorsport, stating, “When I started, there were no women in motorsport. That has changed a lot now because everyone is working to see more women in motorsport. Thanks to the W Series, the F1 Academy and now Formula E, we are climbing the career ladder.”

Her involvement extends beyond public appearances. As a simulator driver, Marti provides crucial data to the team, a role that began during the women's test. “I got along very well with the team in Madrid and Valencia, and after Valencia we started talking about how we could intensify the collaboration here in Formula E. It’s a great opportunity for me, and I’m really excited about it.”

Marti’s connection to Madrid is particularly notable. While the Formula E team is new to the city, she considers it her home race and is eager to contribute to its success. “I really like driving in Madrid, and it’s just great that Formula E is there. I would love to drive there myself, but in my new role it’s great to be with the team in Madrid as it’s my home race.”

The simulator work isn't just about data; it's about familiarizing drivers with the track's nuances. “The simulator isn’t easy,” Marti admits, “but it’s great because you can get to know all the tracks, all the procedures and all the important information. That helps enormously, especially for drivers who need to prepare for the race weekends.”

The team’s next challenge is Madrid, a circuit relatively unknown to the Formula E teams. Marti’s ability to communicate with fans in Spanish will be a valuable asset in boosting the sport's visibility in the region.

Marti’s influence isn't limited to the digital realm. Her work in the simulator provides a tangible advantage as teams prepare for each race. She’s helping to build a foundation for future success – one lap at a time.
