Koivun wins 3m open in thrilling upset

Twenty-one-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun pulled off one of the biggest surprises in recent PGA Tour history, claiming his maiden victory at the 2026 3M Open by three strokes.

Scheffler's bid falls short

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who entered the final round with a two-shot lead, ultimately finished alone in second at 20 under. Despite posting four consecutive birdies from the 10th, his charge stalled on the back nine as Koivun birdied the 12th to move four ahead.

Koivun, who made his PGA Tour debut just last month, became the youngest winner since 19-year-old Keegan Bradley at the 2011 BMW Championship. His winning score of 24 under par equaled the tournament record set by Lee Hodges in 2023.

Scheffler's runner-up finish marked his 14th top-10 result in 2026, further cementing his status as the season's dominant force. However, the 25-year-old's bid for a record-extending 10th victory fell agonizingly short.
