Commanders cornerback Amik Robertson vividly remembers the "headache" rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels posed for Washington's defense in their 2024 playoff matchup against the Lions. Now, with Daniels as his teammate, Robertson has a newfound appreciation for the quarterback's relentless pursuit of perfection.

"That was a fng headache, bro. A quarterback that young, of course, we saw what he did at LSU. I'm a Louisiana guy, I watch LSU," Robertson recalled. "But to see him do that at the next level, you're not surprised, but you're like, 'Wow.' To see he's that young, to be able to go out there and be able to see the game, slow the game down. For a rookie, it's not too many quarterbacks that can come out there and do that."

Robertson praised Daniels' dedication, citing an interception the quarterback threw during training camp as an example. Daniels was visibly frustrated after the pick, a reaction that Robertson believes stems from Daniels' high standards. "He wants to be perfect. He wants to be the best. He feels like when he makes a mistake, he let the team down. But of course, he's not letting us down. We're always rooting for him. We're always going to run through a wall for him as well."

Now, Robertson gets to witness Daniels' growth daily, no longer facing him as an opponent. He credits the Lions with helping him rediscover his own game and providing a larger platform. "Detroit was a team that really helped me find myself again, right? A team that believed in me, a team that put me on a bigger stage and believed in me." As Robertson returns to Detroit on Saturday, he'll do so alongside the quarterback who once gave him a "headache," but now he sees a teammate driven by an admirable work ethic and desire for excellence.
