Emma Navarro Stuns No. 7 Seed Muchova at U.S. Open
New York – Charleston’s Emma Navarro delivered a stunning straight-set victory over No. 7 seed Karolina Muchova 6-3, 7-5 in the third round of the U.S. Open on September 4th. The win marks Navarro’s third top-10 victory this season.

Navarro Advances to Round Four
Navarro will now face the victor of the fourth round match between No. 9 seed Elina Svitolina and No. 21 Anna Kalinskaya. This marks the first time Navarro’s match at the U.S. Open hasn’t been delayed by inclement weather, and she secured the win in just two sets.
“She’s a great player and has had a great year this year. A lot of really good results. I knew it would be tough today,” Navarro stated after her victory. “She has a more unique game style on the WTA tour. Definitely unique matchup. But I enjoyed it. I had fun playing today. I’m looking forward to playing again in a few days.”
Navarro defeated Caty McNally 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the second round and previously overcame Lois Boisson in a grueling three-set match (7-6(6), 6-7(1), 6-3) that went two days and generated a viral video of Boisson smashing her racket.
“I’m over the moon,” Navarro, a native New Yorker, exclaimed to the enthusiastic crowd. “You guys rock!”
