Brewers Option Colton Gordon to Triple-A Nashville
The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned left-handed pitcher Colton Gordon to Triple-A Nashville, the team announced on Wednesday. Gordon made his MLB debut with the Brewers earlier this week, pitching five innings of relief on Tuesday. Although he threw well, giving up no runs, he was unlikely to be available for the remainder of the regular season. This move allows Gordon to be recalled on October 3rd, making him an option for the National League Division Series.

Brewers Option Colton Gordon to Triple-A Nashville
In his first
appearance for the Brewers, Gordon entered the game with the team trailing 3-0 after three innings and pitched four scoreless frames as Milwaukee staged a comeback to tie the score. However, he then surrendered three runs in the eighth inning, putting himself in line for the loss. The inning featured an unfortunate play in which Alec Bohm likely would have been out at third base, but a wild throw from Garrett Mitchell hit Bohm in the leg, allowing him to score. If Bohm had been tagged out, the Phillies would have scored only once in the frame.Gordon is expected to pitch again at some point during Sunday's game. In 54 innings (over 10 starts) with Triple-A Nashville since being acquired in the Lance McCullers Jr. trade, he has posted a 4.67 ERA. He will provide organizational depth and potential bulk innings for the Brewers as they finish the regular season.
Brewers manager Craig Arnold also indicated that fellow acquisition Colton Gordon will likely head to Triple-A for now. If McCullers, who has been on the injured list for two months with shoulder inflammation, is activated, he would likely be part of a six-man rotation the first time through. McCullers could potentially bump Robert Gasser afterwards if he proves worthy. In his last start for Triple-A Sugar Land on July 7, McCullers gave up four runs (two earned) in four innings.
Colton Gordon has only thrown 9 1/3 innings for the Astros this season, but he has a 3.69 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 55/14 K/BB ratio in 70 2/3 innings in Triple-A. With experience as both a starter and reliever, Gordon will provide some organizational depth and potential bulk innings for the Brewers down the stretch.
Originally with the Houston Astros, Gordon was only up for one day before being optioned to make room for the return of reliever Bryan Abreu from the restricted list. He is likely to be an up-and-down arm throughout the 2026 campaign.
In his previous stint with the Astros, Gordon pitched in the big leagues since April, allowing 12 runs over 9 1/3 innings. He will now provide Houston with a fresh arm for Wednesday's series finale in Toronto.
