Borussia dortmund close to securing nico schlotterbeck's future
Borussia Dortmund appears to be making progress in its bid to retain Nico Schlotterbeck, with a new contract reportedly 'nearly fully negotiated' until 2031. The 26-year-old defender could earn up to 14 million euros per year and feature an exit clause for top European clubs.

Dortmund builds for the future
The BVB is looking to rebuild its squad around Schlotterbeck, who currently represents Germany at the international level. 'Dortmund is epoch-defining - and a new epoch is beginning,' said club advisor Matthias Sammer. 'The club is changing a bit, and Schlotterbeck can become a face of an era.' Sammer is convinced the player will stay with the team.
Meanwhile, Ole Book, newly appointed as the club's Sports director, will also be involved in the final stages of negotiations. Book replaces Sebastian Kehl, who parted ways with the club on Sunday.
