It’s the 15th edition of the Final Four and marks the first time it's held in Rome, Italy’s captivating capital. Reigning champions: pro recco
Pro Recco, the reigning champions, are aiming for their fifth Final Four victory since the format was introduced in 1997. With previous titles in 1965 and 1984, a win in Rome would solidify their position as the most successful club in recent European Cup history. The pressure is on for Pro Recco to defend their title and continue their dominance in European water polo. They'll face fierce competition from other top clubs.
The challengers
Three other formidable teams are determined to challenge Pro Recco and claim the trophy. These teams represent Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, bringing diverse playing styles and strong team spirit to the competition. Representing Montenegro, Budva are the newcomers to the Final Four. They’re inspired by their compatriots from Primorac Kotor, who achieved a stunning victory in the 2009 Final Four, breaking Pro Recco's winning streak. Budva will be striving to emulate that success and make a significant impact on the tournament, proving they belong among Europe’s elite clubs.
