dalekovod euro league water polo final four rome 2011

Welcome to the 2011 final four

On behalf of the European Aquatics (LEN), we extend a warm welcome to the 2011 Dalekovod Euro League Water Polo Final Four. This prestigious event, held annually, will determine the best European club water polo team of the season. The 15th edition marks a significant milestone, taking place for the first time in Rome, Italy’s captivating capital city. The anticipation is high, promising a thrilling spectacle of top-tier water polo action from Europe's elite teams.

A historic event in rome

Rome serves as the perfect backdrop for this year's Final Four. The historic Foro Italico will host the competition, providing a stunning setting for these crucial matches. The city and its people have generously welcomed the event, sharing in the excitement and passion for water polo. We are incredibly grateful for their support and hospitality.

The reigning champions: pro recco

Pro Recco, the reigning champions, are aiming to secure their fifth Final Four title since the introduction of this format in 1997. Adding to their legacy with previous victories in 1965 and 1984, a triumph in Rome would solidify their position as the most successful club in recent European Cup history. They’ll be facing stiff competition as they strive to maintain their dominance.

The challengers: partizan, mladost, and budva

Three formidable teams are vying for the trophy, with the potential to take it out of Italy and award it to Croatia, Serbia, or Montenegro. The first semi-final will feature a clash between Partizan Belgrade and Mladost Zagreb, two of Europe’s most decorated clubs, both eager to reclaim a title they've previously held. Budva from Montenegro, the newcomers, are looking to emulate the success of Primorac Kotor, who famously disrupted Recco’s winning streak in the 2009 Final Four.

Key sponsors and collaborators

LEN expresses sincere gratitude to all those involved in making this event possible. Special thanks go to Dalekovod for their groundbreaking role as the first full-season title sponsor. We also acknowledge Events & Travel for their dedicated efforts and Sportitalia for their crucial role in broadcasting and promoting the event across Europe. The Italian Swimming Federation's consistent collaboration has been invaluable.

Looking ahead: expectation and gratitude

We eagerly anticipate a captivating display of skill and athleticism from these world-class players. The competition promises to generate intense emotions and a memorable sporting spectacle. We extend our best wishes to the participating clubs, their passionate supporters, and all the spectators who will witness this exciting chapter in European water polo history. – Nory Kruchten, LEN President
