Despite the absence of injured striker Erling Haaland, City's dominant display saw them overcome a sluggish start to claim a crucial three points.

Leeds, managed by German tactician Daniel Farke, enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin spurning two gilt-edged chances.

However, it was City who struck the decisive blow on the stroke of halftime, as Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo netted the goal of the day in the second minute of added time.

The win extends City's unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches, with eight victories during that period.

With 59 points from 26 games, City now trail leaders Arsenal by just two points, although the Gunners have a game in hand.

Arsenal will look to extend their advantage when they host Chelsea in Sunday's London derby, but City remain firmly in the title hunt under Guardiola's guidance.
