Cobolli conquers acapulco, soars to world no. 15
Flavio Cobolli stunned the tennis world, claiming the ATP 500 title in Acapulco on March 1st. The Roman player defeated Frances Tiafoe in straight sets (7-6(4), 6-4) in a compelling two-hour, ten-minute match.

Cobolli's resurgence: a mexican triumph
This victory marks Cobolli's third title of the year, following wins in Budapest and Hamburg, and propels him to a career-high ranking of world No. 15. The win is particularly significant considering a challenging start to the season marked by physical issues at the Australian Open.
Despite Tiafoe having a 2-0 head-to-head record against Cobolli, the Italian quickly adjusted his game. Cobolli consistently maintained a high tempo, weathering a missed set point in the tenth game of the first set to win the tie-break.
The decisive moment came in the fourth game of the second set, where Cobolli broke Tiafoe's serve, seizing control of the match. He closed out the victory with his tenth ace of the match, becoming the youngest Acapulco champion since Dominic Thiem in 2018.
“I am really happy, I always manage to bounce back from negative moments with hard work and training,” Cobolli stated. “I had never beaten Tiafoe before, so I’m happy to have done it. I dreamed of moments like this as a child, I’m happy for myself and for my family.”
Cobolli's success on both clay and hard courts places him in an exclusive club, joining only Jannik Sinner, Arthur Fils, and Carlos Alcaraz as players born in the 2000s to achieve this feat.
The victory is a testament to Cobolli’s resilience and dedication, a powerful statement from a rising star in men’s tennis.
