Cafu hails bayern's dominance: 'a world should admire their game'

Legendary Brazilian defender Cafu has delivered a stunning endorsement of Bayern Munich’s current footballing philosophy, declaring them a benchmark for the sport’s evolution.

The german giants set a new standard

Speaking at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, the 55-year-old, a World Cup winner himself through the ‘Jogo Bonito’ style that defined his career, cited the club’s recent Champions League performances and Bundesliga dominance as evidence of a team operating at an unprecedented level. ‘Today, Bayern Munich is a model for the rest of the world in the art of football,’ he stated, recalling the captivating displays witnessed in recent matches. ‘It’s beautiful to watch them play.’”

Cafu, who contributed to Brazil’s 2002 World Cup triumph, believes Bayern’s approach – constantly pressing, attacking with relentless intent, and unafraid of conceding goals in pursuit of victory – represents the ideal. He described the team, spearheaded by Vincent Kompany, as ‘a team that always looks forward, a team that always attacks, a team that has no fear of the opponent, a team that knows they will concede goals, but also a team that knows they will score many.’

Record-breaking season

Record-breaking season

And the evidence is mounting. Bayern are already shattering records, boasting a staggering 109 goals scored in the Bundesliga – a figure that could surpass Turin’s 125 from the 1947/48 season, a feat previously considered improbable. They’re also on track to break the all-time Bundesliga points record, previously held by Jupp Heynckes’ 2012/13 champions with 91 points. The Munich outfit are chasing two more titles – a DFB-Pokal trophy against Bayer Leverkusen, and continued dominance in the top flight.

A victory against Leverkusen on Wednesday would secure a return to the Berlin final after a five-year absence. Furthermore, they’re locked in a battle with Paris Saint-Germain for a place in the Champions League final, a clash scheduled for April 28th and May 2nd. A remarkable season for the Rekordmeister, and one that could solidify their place in footballing history.
