Porsche cayenne electric review: the untold story of a revolutionary suv
Porsche's iconic Cayenne is back, but this time, it's electrifying.
nA game-changer in the luxury suv segment
nThe Porsche Cayenne Electric is a bold move from the German automaker, marking its entry into the increasingly competitive electric vehicle (EV) market. This revolutionary SUV boasts exceptional performance, cutting-edge technology, and a sleek, futuristic design that sets it apart from its gasoline-powered counterparts.
n
A bold new look, inside and out
nVisually, the Cayenne Electric retains its signature silhouette while incorporating subtle aerodynamic enhancements. The front fascia is now clean and minimalist, with a prominent Porsche logo and sleek LED headlights. The rear receives a stylish LED light bar, accentuating the SUV's width and stance.
nInside, the cabin is a masterclass in luxury and technology. The 12.6-inch curved touchscreen display dominates the dashboard, flanked by a 14.9-inch central infotainment screen and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. The digital instrument cluster is a beauty to behold, with a stunning OLED display that provides a futuristic driving experience.
nUnder the hood: power and efficiency
nPropelling this electric beast are two permanent magnet synchronous motors, one for the front and one for the rear, providing seamless all-wheel drive. The total output is a staggering 408 horsepower (442 horsepower in overboost mode), coupled with a massive 835 Nm of torque. This translates to a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h.
nBut what truly sets the Cayenne Electric apart is its remarkable range and charging capabilities. The 113 kWh battery pack allows for an estimated 644 km on a single charge, according to Porsche's WLTP tests. In our real-world testing, we managed to achieve around 500 km before needing a recharge. Fast charging capabilities are equally impressive, with the ability to replenish the battery from 10-80% in just 16 minutes using the optional 800V charging system.
n
A capable off-roader, too
nWhile the Cayenne Electric is designed primarily as a luxury on-road performer, it also boasts impressive off-road capabilities thanks to its optional Offroad package. This adds features like increased ground clearance, wading depth, and approach/departure angles, making it well-suited for light off-pavement adventures.
n
A new standard for electric suvs
nThe Porsche Cayenne Electric sets a new benchmark for electric SUVs, offering unparalleled performance, range, and luxury features. While its high starting price and optional extras may deter some buyers, the Cayenne Electric is undoubtedly a worthy investment for those seeking a premium, environmentally friendly vehicle that can keep up with their active lifestyle.
